Trash compactor bags are simply the bags that go into compactor machines that prevent the buildup of garbage. Some are trash cans while others can be installed under a sink. Some compacted bags are equivalent to six 13 gallon trash bags depending on the size. These compactors require special bags, so you cannot use a regular trash bag with them. However, you can compare the major name brands of bags to get an idea of how they are used and some advantages and disadvantages to them.

Viking trash compactor bags typically come in an 18 inch size. The TCB15VUC bags are about 3.5 millimeters thick and come with pre-punched holes to fit the retainer buttons. These bags are made to fit the Viking VUC Trash Compactor. You can get 15 in a pack for a little less than $30 or about $2 per bag. Of course, you can probably find outlets that have these bags in bulk for a break in the price.

You can find GE trash compactor bags in packs of 12 or 15. These bags can usually fit most GE or Monogram machines. They are made to be durable enough so that you only have to use one bag per week. A 12 pack bag of 12 inch bags can cost less than $20, but a 12 pack bag of other models of compactor trash bags can cost more than $30 a pack. A 15 pack of 15 inch bags that can fit round or rectangular machines may cost a little more than $10.

You can also find Kitchenaid trash compactor bags that are compatible with 18 rectangular machines as well as some older machines that require tough to find bags. These bags are constructed of durable three millimeter multi-laminate 50% recycled plastic. The bottom of these bags has a custom fit with its pleated bottom along with a patented slip-n-grip design. A pack of 15 garbage compactor bags costs a little more than $10.

Jenn Air trash compactor bags are available in both 15 inch and 18 inch sizes. Furthermore, you can get 15 inch bags in paper or plastic form. A 15 pack of 18 inch plastic bags costs less than $15. However, you can also find other packages in bulk sizes of 60 and 180. The 15 inch paper and plastic bags cost less at a little more than $10 for 15 plastic bags or 12 paper bags. These bags are also available in bulk sizes with 60 and 180 bags for plastic and 48 and 96 bags for paper.

You can also pick up Electrolux trash compactor bags. You will usually find replacement bags for Electrolux devices in packs of 12. However, the price can vary depending upon the outlet that carries these bags. For instance, one outlet may charge less than $20 while another may charge nearly $30. If you have to get a generic brand of bag to fit your machine, keep in mind that Electrolux machines are typically the 15 inch size.

Against the backdrop of modern materialism, an investment is an inescapable part of our economy and with increasing frequency, of our personal finances. Broadly defined, to invest is to increase the real value of one’s assets or to use these assets to generate a steady stream of income. The diversity of asset classes in which one can invest is also proportionately broad, and investors starting from individuals to highly sophisticated and structured institutional investors compete to earn a slice of the real value generated by their home economy.

The simplest form of investing basics involves providing capital to a company in exchange for a share of its profits. A simple illustration of this is when a child loans his best friend a small sum of money to run a lemonade stand in exchange for a quarter of the latter’s profits. In the real world, however, the start-up capital for companies is provided not by individuals who are willing to fork in small sums of money but by billionaire venture capitalists.

However, companies (and even countries) often need to borrow money and this makes for a good avenue for individuals to invest their money by purchasing bonds – which are in effect contractual promises to pay back the money at a certain rate of interest. Another highly lucrative but potentially riskier means for investing involves the stock market where individuals can purchase a ‘share’ of a company and therefore enjoy a proportionate part of its profits in terms of increased stock price and through dividend income.

For investors with higher capitals who are willing to take greater risks in exchange for larger returns, real estate is another great means of investing. Many countries allow private citizens to purchase portions of land, which can increase greatly in value, especially if the country or region in question is undergoing a developmental phase, thus increasing the real value of land exponentially. For the more experienced investor, the property markets are also a lucrative investment option. While asset classes for investment are nearly limitless, especially in light of the recent waves of financial innovation, a key necessity for potential investors is prudence and the willingness to perform due diligence (or careful research) before making any of their investment decisions.

If one is cautious and discerning, large profits stand to be made in the enjoyable and lucrative world of investing. Learn everything you can and get started investing today.

Whether you’re an expert indoor grower or just starting out, you should know that High Intensity Discharge (HID) grow lights are very effective for growing beautiful healthy plants. In this article we’ll be digging a bit more into these type of lights, and why you should consider. Also, we’ll talk about alternative light sources to consider.

One important aspect to point out is that the effectiveness of HID grow lights comes at a higher cost. They’re not energy efficient. Here are the two types of HID:

Metal Halide

In order to grow the healthiest looking plants, indoor growers have turned to HID for decades, because it gives you a considerable amount of light in the blue spectrum. The brightness you obtain from this bulb is impressive if you compare it to others. For example, an incandescent bulb will produce 18 lumen per watt, while an HID bulb produces 125 lumen per watt. It will last you about 10 thousand hours, and it may not burn out after this time has passed, but you should consider getting a replacement, because it puts out less light as time passes.

High Pressure Sodium

HPS grow lights differ to Metal Halide in that they produce light in the orange-red spectrum. This means that it’s great for plants while they’re in their flowering stage, but not for seedlings. If you use HPS lights to grow young plants, they’ll end up looking weak and thin. HPS bulbs work better as a secondary light source. It would be ideal to use a metal halide light in combination with a High Pressure Sodium bulb. Or, you could also use the sun as a primary source, and use the HPS light for plants that don’t get as much sun. This is often the case of greenhouses.

Fluorescent, incandescent, and LED grow lights

Incandescent grow lights are, by far, the least appropriate for indoor plant growing. This is because they give out the least brightness out of all bulbs. The upside is that they are inexpensive. Fluorescent grow lights will yield much better results, and consume a lot less electricity than HID lights. You also have the option to use LED grow lights. These are the latest development in this market. They can also provide great results, but you have to research and tweak your settings in order to get the best out of them.

The aspect that matters most when making your decision should be the end result. You want beautiful, healthy plants, and HID grow lights have a history of providing those results. However, you have to keep in mind that the costs will be higher than LED or fluorescent grow lights. Any of these last two light, can also get you good results, but you have to research and read about what other growers have experienced with them, and what’s the best product you can get.

Not many of us think about selling our timeshare when we first buy it, although if you own a timeshare, you were probably told when you purchased it how much money you could make by selling it. Selling timeshare properties is possible and it can help you to achieve a sale by thinking back to what attracted you to the unit in the first place.

Try to break down the things that attracted you to your timeshare at first, or the things that you consider to be selling points. These may include such things as affordability, interior decor and design, the location, the week of the year, and the price.

Price

Most people get prepared for selling timeshares for less than they paid for it, simply to avoid the often high annual maintenance fees that come with timeshare properties. Do some research on properties similar to yours, concentrating on private sales and try to determine the selling price. This will give you some idea of what a realistic price for your timeshare unit might be; the next step is deciding whether you are prepared to sell at that price.

Location

Make a list of all the good things about your unit’s location and what you felt was good about it when you bought it. These pluses may include such things as proximity to a beach, restaurants, shopping, public transport, entertainment, etc.

Affordability

To give yourself a better chance of selling your timeshare, it should be priced realistically; ideally at one to two percent below current average market price. Buyers who are buying from a private owner such as yourself are looking for a better deal than if they purchased from a timeshare company.

Week in the Year

Make a list of any benefits of having a timeshare during that particular week. Are there any festivals or special events on at the time? Even if there is nothing on during that week, the fact that it is a quiet week, perhaps attracting fewer crowds, can be a big selling point to somer buyers.

Furnishings and Decor

Everybody wants to buy a unit that is stylishly and comfortably decorated, and the better your furniture and overall decor, the better your chances of selling your timeshare.

If you are planning on selling your timeshare, thinking along the above lines will increase your chances of selling your unit quickly and at a good price.

The word for stretch glass is elegance. Stretch glass is the elegant child of colorful and highly modeled carnival glass, and made by the same glass manufacturers. Where the carnival glass is highly modeled, stretch glass is usually made on simpler lines with less ornamentation. And where carnival glass is very iridescent, stretch glass has a subtler iridescent sheen. All in all, stretch glass is just elegant.

The Tiffany Company created Favrile glass around the turn of the Twentieth Century. This art glass has a great iridescent finish, and was usually made into fairly plain shapes, like the jack-in-the-pulpit vase, so that the iridescence was plainly visible. Other art glass companies followed suit with their own versions of Favrile glass in relatively simple shapes, and soon iridescent glass was the in thing. Carnival glass Was the molded glass makers’ response to the Favrile glass, and was intended to give regular people access to iridescent glass.

The answer for the molded glass companies was a sprayed on finish of metallic oxides that would impart iridescence to their glass production, which was later named carnival glass. The metallic oxide spray was applied to the glass piece once it was molded and before it was set in the lehr for tempering. Stretch glass resulted if the molded glass was returned to the furnace and reheated. Because of the surface coating, the interior of the glass piece expands faster than the surface does, leaving a crazed iridescence. The stretch marks and crazing in the iridescent finish softens the iridescence into a velvety sheen that is most pleasing.

The glass makers realized at once that the stretch glass iridescence was closer to the iridescent art glass in looks, and started applying the oxides and reheating the glass of more plainly molded forms. Thus, the velvet sheen becomes the most important feature of stretch glass, and the form of the glass takes second place. Stretch glass was made into simple vases, compotes and candlesticks, which are generally sold as console sets to be displayed together. Fenton stretch glass and other brands of stretch glass can be recognized on sight once you have seen the velvety sheen in pictures or in person.

Elegant in form and with a subdued but definite iridescence, stretch glass is a nice development to carnival glass, which tries to sjhow great iridescence on a highly modeled surface. Stretch glass was originally made in the first half of the 20th Century when carnival glass was made. Glass makers returned to the production of carnival glass in the second half of the 20th Century, and probably made stretch glass again as well.

You can use electrical drum sets to get your practicing done without any noise, or just as an extension to your acoustic set. You’ll find that these days, these fine pieces of equipment can sound surprisingly similar to real drums, and they are sensitive to the strength of your strike. They will range from $400 to $7000 depending on the features you’re looking for, so here’s a brief guide of what to look for before buying an electrical drum set.

The first thing to do is to look at products from manufacturers that have a good reputation. Roland is the leading company in electrical drums, and they have a variety of models to choose from. Other trusted brands are Yamaha, Alesis, Simmons and Hart.

Drum pads

The drum pads are the surfaces you will be hitting with your drumsticks, so in order to replicate the strike of an acoustic drum, some manufacturers use mesh drum pads. The more common ones are plastic pads, and choosing one or the other is a matter of personal preference. The important thing is how they respond to lighter or harder strikes. The more natural the electric drum set sounds as you increase strength, the better it is.

Sound module

The sound module is the part of the drum set that interprets your playing, processes everything and it produces different sounds. It’s like having a beat making software where you can quickly change the sound each pad produces. So, it will allow you to switch from Latin percussion to a jazz kit in seconds. This component is the main difference between a hundred dollar drum set and a thousand dollar one. It will also have several features such as listening to a track as you play along, or recording your drums.

Sound output

The most common sound output used by players are headphones. If you would like to perform with your electronic drum set, or rehearse with a full band, you’ll need a speaker where you can plug your drums to. Any speaker will be fine, just make sure that the drums you pick have an output. The great thing about electronic drums is that you’ll be able to move the volume up or down to your convenience. That means no more neighbors complaining, and you get to play at any time you want.

Electric drum sets are great instruments, and depending on the features you’re after you’ll find a great range of products with different prices. However, before you make your choice, we highly suggest that you try out the model you want. You’ll find many music stores that have them for display, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

With the quickly rising costs associated with college, many students are turning to a risky source to buy their books, pay rent, and help make payments towards their tuition. This method, which should be the next to last resort, is by racking up their credit card debt and by getting more credit cards with even more debt.

A relatively poor economy leads many students to have little money. So they rely on credit cards. However, as tough as it seems, it is better to cut corners, pinch pennies, and save money than to build a high credit card debt especially while still in school.

Fortunately, with education and knowledge, students can know how credit cards work, what is good, what is bad, and what is convenient about them.

–Lack of Knowledge Afflicts Students–

Many credit card companies attack student’s relentlessly with advertisements, promotions and special offers in the attempt to entice students to get a card. The result is a lack of knowledge on the student’s part. The credit card companies neglect to mention the negatives of getting a credit card while exaggerating the positives.

–Positives: Good in Emergencies–

To be sure, there are many great things about credit cards. It is not all doom and gloom and debt. The first and arguably most important benefit to having a credit card is that it can be a last resort for money in an emergency.

Cars can break down and you never know when you will be faced with a short-term medical emergency. Credit cards allow you to pay the tow truck or the surgeon’s bill, which can save you time and prevent stress and worry.

–Another Positive: Can Pay Off Debt Over Time–

Yet another positive attribute of credit cards is that your debt can be paid off slowly, over time, in small increments. This splits up the large, one time costs associated with many things like new computers or textbooks into smaller monthly payments; these, in turn, can be much easier to pay. This is a prime convenience of a credit card.

–Negatives: High Interest Rates–

But, unfortunately, being able to pay off debts over time comes with a negative. High interest rates are applied whenever you choose monthly payments, meaning that, over time, you are paying quite a bit more than you would otherwise pay. This can lead to, in the long run, more money being spent on things.

So, to save money, the best thing to do is to pay off your debt as soon as possible. Because, if you don’t then the debt can spiral out of control.

–The Biggest Negative: Damaging Your Credit Card Score–

If a student’s debt blossoms out of control and they are unable to pay it off, then the big troubles begin. First, this damages your credit score, which is important for renting or buying a house, getting a car, a mortgage, and, in short, everything in society. Some jobs can even make decisions on whether or not to hire you based on your credit card score.

The worst is if you default; then, you will have this hanging over your head for at least seven years. It damages your credit score, which, as mentioned previously, impacts all the major financial options of a person.

–Play it Smart, Keep Debt Low–

Because of these very real and present dangers, it is important to keep debt to a minimum. Be careful with your purchases and look into saving money if it is possible. Lay some aside for emergencies. It isn’t easy, but with planning, any student can manage their credit card.

Lux Products have recently been catching up with Honeywell International as a programmable thermostat brand of quality. They have won some consumer awards for their thermostats and Lux Products are preferred by many people for whom swing control is an important function.

One of the best value recommended thermostats that Lux Products make is the TX1500E. It is a 5-1-1 thermostat that is Energy Star recommended and comes with a 1 year warranty. This thermostat provides 4 periods of heating/cooling to set up for 3 programs – weekdays, Saturday and Sunday. If you have a job with fixed working hours this is adequate to make sure you don’t waste money heating or cooling an empty house.

By matching the climate control of your home with the schedules of the inhabitants and by using sensible settings you can reduce bills by as much as 30% over a year. For just $40 (if you buy through Amazon.com) this 5-1-1 thermostat pays for itself in just a couple of months. The recommended thermostat settings are 67 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and 78 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer; and, 8 degrees Fahrenheit less when the house is empty. The closer you stick to the government recommended settings the more you will save.

The Lux Products TX1500E 5-1-1 thermostat is compatible with 1 stage of heating and 1 stage of cooling, central air, gas, electric and 2 wire hydronics systems. It comes with a comprehensive instruction manual and is easy to self-install. There is a large mercury free back lit digital display and a speed dial for quick programming.

The thermostat also has a good swing control with a range of 2.25 degrees that goes up in 0.25 increments. Swing control is a function that is missing on Honeywell thermostats and is important to stop HVAC equipment wearing out from frequent short cycling. Swing control keeps the room temperature within a fixed range around the set point temperature.

The Lux Products Smart Temp also has an extra program that can be used for days when your schedule changes or as a vacation mode so the house is comfortable when you return from vacation. There is also a temporary hold that lets you make quick changes without altering the programmed settings.

This thermostat also has a battery change warning and a filter change warning. The display shows the relative humidity in a room. The relative humidity display is unusual on programmable thermostats and will be of interest to those who have hardwood or bamboo floors that are in danger of swelling or shrinking when the humidity in a room is too high or too low.

Finally, the Lux Products TX1500E digital programmable thermostat has a clever keyboard lockout to stop people altering your settings without your permission. This thermostat has 111 reviews on Amazon: the majority of them giving glowing reports about the device. If you are serious about reducing your home bills than this is a thermostat you should seriously consider.

The recorder is a vastly underrated instrument. For years, it has been maligned by “serious” classical musicians, and relegated to elementary school classrooms as a “toy instrument”. Yes it’s true that when children play cheap recorders together in music class, the result isn’t necessarily beautiful; but the same is true of the violin, and just think of all the amazing compositions which have been written for that instrument. The recorder is no different. Handel, Vivaldi, Bach, and Telemann all wrote wonderful pieces of music specifically to be played on the recorder, which in the baroque period was considered a virtuoso, solo instrument. Here are a few of the reasons why I love playing the recorder:

It’s easy to learn (at least at first). Buy an inexpensive yamaha bass recorder, and make music the very first day. The diatonic (scale) fingerings are a cinch to master- there are no complicated keys or moving parts to worry about. Actually, many popular songs just use the three fingers of the left hand, so you can start playing tunes even without worrying about keeping your right hand in check. While it’s true that the chromatic fingerings on the recorder (sharps and flats) get complicated very quickly (these notes involve cross-fingerings, a very difficult skill to master), you can add these notes gradually so you never feel too challenged.

It’s cheap. Recorders are one of the least expensive instruments you can possibly buy. What other instrument could you purchase for five to ten dollars? What’s more, as long as you buy a plastic instrument from a reputable maker (the Aulos tenor recorder is a great example), you’ll be able to play the full range of the instrument, and play in tune, and with a good tone.

It doesn’t require an embouchure. Unlike other wind instruments, the recorder requires absolutely no lip strength. Playing the clarinet, flute, bassoon, trumpet, or saxophone requires a great deal of strength building at first- a step you can completely skip on the recorder.

It plays really, really fast. The recorder is the only wind instrument that doesn’t have keys. This is an important distinction. Keys, although necessary to cover holes on larger instruments, build resistance in the system. Because there are no keys on the recorder, you can play as fast as your fingers can fly. There are many recorder players who can play just as fast, or faster, than even the most adroit pianist.

Understanding Breakdown Coverage Policy Lingo

We know we need them, but do we really understand what they mean? I am talking about securing a breakdown coverage policy for ourselves. We all recognize its importance and the many benefits this simple policy can warrant, but more often than not we just buy them without really comprehending the essential elements that comprise our insurance. With the exponential rise in break down providers, consumers are often drowned out by their technical terms and jargon, leaving any baffled consumer no other choice but to just buy what is being offered. But this type of coverage is not fast food and as such should be purchased after much thought and consideration.

In addition, BreakdownCover.org also advises consumers like you to gain as much knowledge as you can on understanding the unique lingo of these providers to make you more adept at choosing the kind of policy that will work best for you.

Personal coverage vs. vehicle coverage

I bet a lot of us would think that breakdown covers are just limited to car coverage, well think again. As a way to respond to the varying needs of consumers, breakdown cover providers have categorized their policies into either the personal or car based coverage. The first one secures the person regardless of what car he drives and this is especially appropriate for those who drive around a number of cars. For those who are limited to just a single family car, then it is best that you opt to only cover the car itself so that no matter who drives, you can rest easy knowing that it will still be covered by your policy.

Basic Package

Also understand that there are a number of levels to a breakdown policy, the cheapest and perhaps the most popular would probably be the basic package, which offers the most elementary requirements of drivers. They are often just limited to roadside recoveries and short distance towing services. Though this might work for an average individual, those who drives out for alonger distances might need to look into the other levels of a breakdown policy which also covers home start, onward travel and even European covers. Look into AA membership offers to assess the value of their packages vis a vis other provider

Nationwide Relay

From the name itself, this service encompasses different areas within the country and though this is often pricier than the basic package, nothing beats knowing that you are protected wherever you are.

These are just some of the terms you would encounter as a consumer and the more you understand them, the more informed your decision becomes.
